Our theatre was born from The Ruskin School of Acting.
The Ruskin School of Acting was founded in 1986 by John Ruskin, who was Sanford Meisner's apprentice, teaching with him in New York at the Neighborhood Playhouse. The school teaches the Meisner Technique as well as a variety of other classes. The teachers at the Ruskin School are dedicated to guiding students toward creating and maintaining a career in film, television, and theatre, as well as connecting them with the deepest parts of themselves and their talents. Many of the students go on to act, write, and direct works at our theatre. Our Young Actors Classes train kids and teenagers in the Meisner Technique to support them as they start their careers and develop more profound self-confidence.
